Investigation on the fact of bribing voters by the coalition “Georgian dream” is launched

The Interior Ministry of Georgia launched an investigation on case of bribing voters by the coalition “Georgian dream”. 

The prosecutor’s office released a special statement regarding it. 

As it is said in the statement, the aim of the investigation is protection of pre-election processes from the criminal engagement and insurance of political parties and citizens’ electoral rights. 

“On June 5, it was reported by media that in Kutaisi representatives of the political coalition “Georgian dream” were distributing flyers and attached to them, forms containing promises about material awards. Since such kind of action consist a crime, in particular, a sign of bribing voters, investigation for studying the facts is started in the general department of Imereti Internal Affairs Ministry. In accordance with the Criminal Code of Georgia, the investigation is supervised by the prosecutor’s office”, - is said in the statement.
