Russia’s State Duma's CIS Affairs Committee announced on Tuesday the creation of a council, which would analyze risks of “color revolutions” and threats to Russia, created in the Middle East – the newspaper “Kommersant” reports. Functions of the new body are to be determined more accurately on April 12.

Council will be a kind of “counter-revolution research center”. According to the Kommersant’s source, the council would study the use of information technologies such as social media and its role in coordinating mass rallies; and the most important – it must develop anti-revolutionary movement methods, in general.

Russian institutes, which are specialized in the studies of post-Soviet space, will be involved in the work of the council.
