Georgian president talked with European leaders about processes developing in Georgia

Simultaneously to the UN General Assembly session, Georgian president held meetings with European leaders, as well as, First Persons of various states and international organizations in the New-York. The main themes of the talks were ongoing processes in the country, implemented reforms and upcoming elections. As Mikheil Saakashvili noted, European partners of Georgia repeatedly expressed support towards existed course and desire of deepening future cooperation. After the meeting with the President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, Georgian president noted that as a result of agreements reached between Georgia and the EU, the country citizens will have opportunity to travel to Europe with visa-free regime and farmers and entrepreneurs will be able to export their products without a duty. During the visit in New-York, Mikheil Saakashvili held face-to-face meetings with the Polish president, Bronisław Komorowski and with the head of the Republic of Dominica, Medina Sánchez. The main topics of the talks were bilateral cooperation, regional security and the situation existed on the occupied territories. The sides also touch upon the Russian-Georgian relations, namely, threats coming from the northern neighbor. “Russia is still trying to find different methods to get recognition of the so-called South Ossetia and Abkhazia from different states.
