Representatives of international missions call on the parties participated in the elections to unite

Representatives of the International observation missions summed up parliamentary elections. 

According to their assessment, the yesterday’s elections was a significant step forward in terms of democracy, however, many violations were observed during the pre-election campaign, which undermined confidence in the process.   

“The elections were conducted in a calm and peaceful environment, now the leading power and the opposition have a great responsibility. There should not be no winners and losers any more”, - was said on the press-conference held today.     

Representatives of NATO Parliamentary Assembly observation mission called on the parties participated in the elections to unite for the country’s interests. 

According to the assessment of the representatives of the mission, the population showed high level of election culture on polls yesterday. 

“The progress was observed in the election environment. The population was given opportunity to freely express their will, but there were disadvantages as well”, - the representatives said.  

The observation mission representatives also touched upon the topic of covering elections by media and they note that there is a poor situation in Georgia in this regard. According to the foreigner observers, the most balanced information on elections had the “Public broadcaster”.
