Mikheil Saakashvili met the EU and the Diplomatic Corps representatives

Georgian president has hosted representatives of the EU and the Diplomatic Corps today. The main topic of the meeting was the parliamentary elections held in the country.
According to the assessment of the EU Ambassador Philip Dimitrov, the EU special representative for crisis affairs of Georgia and to South Caucasus Philip Leporisa and the head of the EU monitoring mission Andjei Tishkevich, the elections, as well as the election process were completed successfully, which once again proves that the country has maintained a democratic course.
As the European diplomats noted, on October 1 Georgian people manage to express free opinion and the authorities have once again prove that they are committed to democracy, freedom and European values.
During the meeting representatives of the EU and the Diplomatic Corps have stressed once again that the vote counting process should be conducted in democratic and transparent environment and the Central Election Commission must have an opportunity to carry out its work in a calm situation, without any political pressure and excesses.
As for Georgian side, the meeting was attended by the State Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Tornike Gordadze.
