Day News

According to the information of Foreign Affairs Ministry, one part of the Gareji Monastery complex has not been within the border of Georgia since the Soviet times.

As Deputy Minister Nino Kalandadze said during the briefing held in the Ministry, some part of complex is on the Azerbaijan territory and that causes a problem.

“Process of border delimitation between Georgia and Azerbaijan has been carried out relatively successfully so far; however the negations are not completed yet. As for the information that Azerbaijan border guards are standing in the desert monastery, we are anxiously watching it”, - Kalandadze said.
