Day News
Short-term visits are still being held in Gldani N8 prison. According to latest data, up to 800 people have already been registered. Approximately 600 were already able to see their inmate relatives.
At a special meeting the president ordered to the government heads to give the opportunity to family members of all the prisoners to have interim visits to the prisons; also, the prison escorts have left the penitentiary institutions and they were replaced by police servicemen.
Yesterday, at the end of the day, the police entered the penitentiary institution. For now, the situation at the place is stable, representatives of the Public Defender continue working in an emergency regime and they check the institutions.
Georgian Prime-Minister personally took responsibility for each prisoner’s safety and conduction of similar reforms in the penitentiary system, as were carried out in the police.
