The U.S. Secretary of State has presented annual report to the Congress, where Georgia is still in the highest category – the first basket.

The First Deputy Minister of Justice Tina Burjaliani held a special briefing on this topic. The event was attended by the representatives of the trafficking victims help fund.

According to the report, countries are divided into three categories: the first basket consists of the states, which fully meet minimal standards for elimination of difficult forms of trafficking. Georgia is in the first basket already for 5 years.

In the report of the Secretary of State it is said about Georgia that the government has significantly increased financial resources for prevention measures, victims’ shelters and trainings for professionals. It also reads that in 2011 Georgia has successfully investigated cases of trafficking and detained 5 offenders, their penalties were from six to nineteen years in prison.
