Day News

Participation of priests in political actions is unacceptable for Georgian Orthodox Holy Synod. It said in the resolution of the Synod.

“The church is comprehensive and any political party member is capable of being part of it. We are called to unite the country and therefore, participation of servants of the church in political rallies is unacceptable”, - Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II noted.

It should be noted that priests are often seen on the rallies held by the opposition movement “Georgian dream”. In addition, opposition leaders are particularly emphasizing participation of representatives of the Church in the actions, as expression of support of Georgian Orthodox Church.
