Identification of military servicemen fallen during the Russian-Georgian war was carried out
Defense Ministry of Georgia spreads information about
military servicemen fallen during the 2008 August war.
“Military servicemen of Georgian Armed Forces Sergeant Zurab
Turashvili and Senior Sergeant Gela Tigishvili fallen during the 2008 Russian
War on Georgia were identified by the DNA analyses. The Ministry of Defence of
Georgia once more expresses deep regret for the death of the Georgian soldiers
and extends condolences to their families.
The military servicemen served in the IV Infantry Brigade of
GAF. Sergeant Turashvili was registered in the Georgian Armed Forces since
2007, Senior Sergeant Tigishvili served in GAF since 2006. Both soldiers were
awarded by Vakhtang Gorgasali I Rank Orders and medals “Devoted for Homeland”,
Ministry of Defence of Georgia will cover all costs related
to the funeral of the deceased Georgian soldiers.
The mentioned persons were considered lost so far.
