Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance of Georgia (MCLA) – Ms Khatuna Kalmakhelidze met with inmates who are employed in the bread bakery at Rustavi #16 penitentiary establishment.

Dozens of inmates are employed in the bakery, daily supplying penitentiary system with fresh bread. According to Minister, supporting employment of inmates is one of the main priorities of the MCLA; hence, various types of enterprises are operating in the penitentiary system. “While serving sentence, inmates are able to receive compensation for their jobs, in some cases  support their families,  acquire profession and work experience, which will significantly contribute to their rehabilitation," - noted Ms. Kalmakhelidze. The MCLA aims at increasing employment opportunities and supporting opening of other enterprises in the future.
