Dimitri Shashkin and John McCain discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation in defence sphere
According to the information of the Defence
Department, Minister of Defence of Georgia held a meeting with Senator John
McCain in the framework of his official visit to the United States of America.
At the meeting the sides discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation in
defence sphere. Ongoing defence reforms, new 3T concept, the 6-point agreement
reached between the United States of America and Georgia aimed at enhancing
cooperation in defence sphere were also discussed at the meeting.
Senator McCain expressed readiness to continue
cooperation on defence issues and to support the Georgian government in
implementation of democratic reforms.
Senator John McCain is the senior United States
Senator from Arizona.
He was the Republican presidential nominee in the 2008 United States
election. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986. Senator McCain is a member
of the Armed Services Committee of the United States Senate empowered with
legislative oversight of the nation's military, including the Department of
Defense.
