The Baltic fleet was equipped with C-400 strategic missile complexes, in
response to U.S.
missile defense systems. The new equipments are to protect Russia’s
western borders from the strikes from air and space.
According to the existing data, C-400 is able to identify object flying
with a speed 4,8 km/h in a 600km radius.
It also is capable to ballistic
missile in a 60 km altitude.
The mentioned complex at Kaliningrad is
already the third such complex in Russia. Two of them are stationed
in the Moscow
region in vicinity of Eleqtrostal and Dolgoprudni.
In March, Dimitri Medvedev said, no one has explained to Moscow why it should believe “that “the U.S. anti-missile system in Europe is not
directed against Russia.”
He also stressed, that there still is time to reach an agreement
regarding the missile defense system, “however, it passes” – Russia
president said.
