Georgian
heavy athlete Raul Tsirekidze became the European champion. The athlete was the
only sportsman in the European championship held in the Turkish city Antalya, who used all the
six tries and thus won a title of champion.
In the
first movement Tsirekidze overcome 160, 163 and 165 kg weights and was only
behind the Turkish sportsman Fatih Baidar, who managed to control 166 kg bar. In
the second movement Raul also got a silver medal, where he coped with 193, 196
and 200 kg weights. In this movement, German Tom Schwartsbach lifted one
kilogram more than Georgian.
In
total Tsirekidze got 365kg and fairly won the gold medal, the second was Baidar
(359kg.) and with the bronze medal was awarded Romanian Gabriel Sinkraian, who
is behind the Turkish sportsman only with his personal weight.
The
Olympic, World and European champion, Giorgi Asanidze participated in the
awarding ceremony. It should be noted that exactly in Antalya Asanidze became
World champion in 2001 and in 2001 the European champion.
We will
remind you that the coaches of Georgian national team – Avtandil Gakhokidze and
Aleko Nozadze have taken two more athletes to Antalya. On April 14 we will see Aluda
Managadze (105 kg) and on April 15 Irakli Turmanidze (+105kg).
